After practicing the layer mask technique on a few images i saw a picture similar to the one above, an apple with a snakes mouth coming from the side, and i decided to have a go at creating something similar. Using the layer mask tool and being very patient this is how the image turned out. This is probably my best edit yet, and i am seriously considering using it as one of my finals.

- I'm a 17 year old student at Truro college. I've taken a photography course at the college and for part of our third unit we have been told to set up a blog and document our progress throughout the unit. the unit is called 'Play'. It's a Photoshop based unit which basically means the photos i will be uploading will be pictures i have taken and edited in photoshop. I'm interested in a wide range of photography genres such as sport photography, landscape, portrait... the list goes on. However this unit i think i'm going to base the photos i upload around portraiture; comparing photographed portraits to illustrated portraits, landscape photography; by taking lots of different landscape photographs digitaly and on film i hope to be able to compare the two styles,

Penguin Creature
This is an image i created using the three images above of a dog, tiger and penguin. I got the idea for this by looking through random images people have created on Photoshop and i just thought doing something like this is a good way to experiment with the layer mask technique. After using this I've found that it's a much more efficient technique than simply using the eraser tool when overlaying layers. The only thing i would change if doing this again would be trying out different animals.

Global Warming?
The first image with the straw on the end of the can is where i took the inspiration to make my own re-creation from. I created this image using a cloud brush i downloaded from www.deviantart.com. The hand holding the can was taken from Google however, and the background was just filled blue. I really like the image and am happy with the final outcome. If i was to re create this image i would try different cloud positioning in the background and maybe try and make the cloud coming out of the can look more like spray, rather than making it look more like clouds.

Street Sunrise
Just a quick image i've created using a brush pack that i downloaded from www.deviantart.com called 'Urban scrawl'. I also used some spray paint brushes to add a street art effect in the sun rising, and merging the colours between the sky and the sun.

David Foldvari
David Foldvari's work often addresses subjects of alienation, identity and belonging; “Dealing with negative issues in my work helps to keep me balanced in real life”. His work has gained international recognition. Influenced by his Eastern European roots his work is taking a more honest and personal direction and returning to its’ fundamental roots. He now lives and works in Brighton, England.
Foldvari's work Really interests me, the images above are two of my favourite images from his collection. The first image, "eyeface" is my favourite of the two. I like how out of the ordinary it is and how it catches your eye as soon as you look at it. The second image, "All Cunts" in my opinion comes across with a very strong message. Not only is the main part of the image a swear word, but the word consists of celebrities faces who David Foldvari thinks, are "cunts".
